50% Kids Enrolled, 10 Million Books

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio announced that over 50% of eligible children between birth and age 5 years old will receive an Imagination Library book in the mail this month. 362,295 books will be mailed to children in Ohio who are currently enrolled in the program.

It’s wonderful to travel Ohio’s 88 counties, read an Imagination Library book to children, and hear about the impact these books are having on Ohio’s families. And research shows these books spark interest in reading and improve kindergarten readiness. Now that we’ve hit more than 50 percent enrollment, I will continue working to enroll even more families.
— Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine

Additionally, First Lady DeWine and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio announced that more than 10 million Imagination Library books have been mailed to Ohio children since 2019. In 2019, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio was established, and in November 2020, became available to all families—regardless of zip code—for free. Prior to 2019, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was only available in pockets of Ohio.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio has 70 local program partners who administer the program at the county level, and cover one-half (50%) of the cost of Imagination Library books in their assigned county. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio matches the other one-half (50%) cost, ensuring the program remains free for all families.

Through a partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, each book is $2.20.
